Looks Like Marvel May Screen Avengers: Endgame For A Sick Fan

No fan can wait until Avengers: Endgame hits theaters. For those who have been following the Marvel Cinematic Universe from the beginning, Endgame will be the culmination of over 10 years of work. However, for one fan, who, unfortunately, does not expect to live to see the big finale, things just got a little brighter. It seems that Disney has been in touch with a young man dying of cancer and he will likely get to see the new film early, in order to be sure he sees it at all.

The story started only a few days ago when somebody going by the name Alexander q on Reddit posted about his situation. He's suffering from cancer of the mouth and the liver and is also going through bone marrow failure. He had heard of other fans with terminal illnesses getting access to early screenings of films and thus decided he would see if something like that could happen with him.

In a recent edit to his original post, Alexander has revealed that he has been in direct contact with Disney and they are currently working out the various options that will allow him to see Avengers: Endgame sometime very soon.

This is certainly wonderful news for Alexander and the sort of thing that will likely warm the heart of even the most jaded amongst us. Many of us who are anxiously awaiting Endgame can probably imagine the heartbreak we'd feel if we thought we'd never be able to see it.

This has become something of a trend in recent years, but it's one that I'm certainly happy to see. One terminally ill Star Wars fan got to see The Force Awakens early after getting his story picked up by the media, and he died only a few days later. Since then, we've seen other seriously ill people be given early access to other films as well as video games.

There are probably more people in the world who would like this sort of treatment than can possibly receive it, which is the only unfortunate part. Still, it's nice to see these studios be willing to take these steps. It's certainly good PR for them, but it's also simply a nice thing to do for somebody whose time might be limited. It would have been easy for Disney to have made this sort of thing a one-time occurrence with Star Wars. Having done it once it was guaranteed that others would ask for the same favor, but the studio seems more than willing to continue to honor such a request.

He'll almost certainly have to sign a mountain of non-disclosure agreements to help ensure that he doesn't tell anybody what he saw in the film, so the rest of us will have to wait until release to know what happens in Avengers: Endgame.

Movie Theater Accidentally Plays Fifty Shades Freed Instead Of Black Panther

There's a lot that's surprising about Marvel's new movie Black Panther. The flick introduces us to a brand new, technologically advanced society in Wakanda. It features diverse characters in lead roles we might not ordinarily see. Even the basic structure is very unusual for a superhero movie. However, one audience expecting to see Black Panther actually got a very different surprise. Instead of cool vibranium-oriented gadgets, they got the first few minutes of Fifty Shades Freed.

The video shows some footage from the early part of Fifty Shades Freed, and the audience isn't having it. In fact, among the voices in the crowd you can hear one girl exclaim that it is "the opposite movie" before the theater fixes the issue. The mix-up happened at Atlantic Station theater in Atlanta on opening weekend for Black Panther, which has sold out many places.

According to what one moviegoer told Inside Edition, at first people in the theater thought that they were getting yet another preview for a movie. Once they realized what was really going on, the theater got quite a bit more rowdy, which is what you can see in the video from Stephen Waites, above. The mistake was corrected after about 10 minutes, which was just enough time to see Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey get married and flit off onto their kinky honeymoon on a boat.

Elsewhere, Black Panther screenings seemingly went off without a hitch. Earlier this weekend, there was even a block of time at the famed Hollywood Arclight where every single theater was showing Black Panther, due to demand. The movie is expected to make a boatload of money this weekend, and is on pace to not only be the best-selling MCU movie in pre-sales but also be the best-selling superhero movie in terms of ticket pre-sales.

Thus far, we haven't heard any other reports of theaters accidentally showing the wrong movie, but fortunately, if any of them do, you can count on the footage appearing on social media almost immediately. Just don't count on them getting the same level of attention as this one. There's just something about paying to see an action-oriented superhero movie and instead getting a hyper-sexual film like Fifty Shades Freed that feels almost perfect.

In case if you're wondering what would be entirely perfect, that would be thinking you paid for Aristocats and instead getting The Aristocrats.

Any year with multiple adaptations of Stephen King books heading to theaters is a great year. OK, unless its more Dark Tower movies. Damn, that movie didnt work at all. But we have higher hopes for this new take on the authors Pet Sematary, which exists to remind grieving parents that sometimes, dead is better. The new trailer just dropped, so press play:

Theres a shot in that trailer that will make the hairs on the back of the necks of Stephen King fans stand at attention. Its the shot of John Lithgows foot. Because we know whats coming next. A razor-sharp surgical scalpel is about to sever a tendon, in one of the most memorable King moments in any of his books.

Pet Sematary is a mean story. It plays on peoples basic emotions, of love and loss, and the need to wipe away tragedy, by any means necessary. It asks the simple question, If you could bring a deceased loved one back somehow, would you? We know that the answer should be no. So when we get to the line, I know what youre thinking of doing. But they dont come back the same. Its positively bone-chilling.

This is not the first time that Hollywood gave Pet Sematary a big-screen telling, as the first film dropped in 1989 has become a bit of a cult classic, but also stands as a movie that hasnt aged incredibly well. Kings stories have a Shakesperean flexibility to them, in that they can be told repeatedly, by different voices, and be more effective to a new generation.

Take, for instance, the way that Kings masterful IT is being translated by Andy Muschietti. That two-parter will continue what has been a resurgence in Stephen King storytelling, from the TV screen (Castle Rock) to the movie theaters. And we are all in on scary-looking adaptations like this.

Kevin Kolsch and Dennis Widmyer direct the latest Pet Sematary, which casts Jason Clarke and Amy Seimetz as parents facing a conundrum when their daughter suddenly passes. I dont want to give too much away here, though the new trailer essentially lays out where the devious storyline will go. All I know is that John Lithgow is perfect casting as Jud Crandall, the man who plants a demon seed in Clarkes brain. And Kolsch and Widmyer helmed Starry Eyes, which was a critically acclaimed horror satire that got people very excited.
