Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon A Time In Hollywood Has Cast Its Bruce Lee
If Quentin Tarantino plans on sticking with his promise of only directing 10 movies, then we're just under a year away from seeing his penultimate offering, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. Set in 1969, the movie's cast is a mix of fictional characters and real life individuals from Hollywood and connected to the Manson Family. Once Upon a Time is entering its second full month of principal photography, and it's been revealed that Bruce Lee, who crossed paths with actress Sharon Tate, will appear in the movie, portrayed by Inhumans star Mike Moh.
Although Mike Moh was mentioned as being part of Once Upon a Time in Hollywood's cast last month, The Wrap confirmed that he'll be playing Bruce Lee in the movie. Lee was reported to be a player in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood earlier this year, and looking at the numerous times Moh has paid tribute to the legendary Hollywood kung fu master, he'll treat the role with great respect. That said, given how stacked Once Upon a Time's cast is, I suspect Moh's Lee will have a minor role in the story rather than be one of its major participants. Ooh recently portrayed Triton on the short-lived Marvel series Inhumans, and his other credits Street Fighter: Resurrection, Kamen Rider: Dragon Knight and Empire.
Most of you reading this story probably don't need to be told who Bruce Lee is, but just to cover our bases, during his too-short time in the entertainment industry, his credits included The Big Boss, Fist of Fury, Enter the Dragon and the Green Hornet TV series. However, it was Lee's time working on The Wrecking Crew as a fight choreographer that's most important when it comes to Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, as that's where he met and worked with Sharon Tate. After Tate and some of her friends were murdered by followers of the Manson Family, there were some who suspected that Lee might have been the one who killed them, so perhaps that angle will be explored in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. It's also worth mentioning that Quentin Tarantino is a longtime Bruce Lee fan, as evidenced by Uma Thurman wearing a similar outfit in Kill Bill: Volume 1 as the one Lee wore in Game of Death, so no doubt finally getting to include Lee as a character in one of his movies is a treat.
Along with Mike Moh, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood's cast includes Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt, Margot Robbie, Damian Lewis, Burt Reynolds, Luke Perry, Emile Hirsch, Dakota Fanning, Al Pacino and Scoot McNairy, among many others. The movie opens in theaters on July 26, 2019, so stay tuned to CinemaBlend for continuing coverage.
