New Men In Black Spinoff Photo Sees Chris Hemsworth And Tessa Thompson Traversing The Desert

Dealing with alien matters is a complicated business, and sometimes it requires travel. With a few exceptions, Will Smith's Agent J and Tommy Lee Jones' Agent K stayed inside New York City for their crazy adventures in the original Men in Black movies. But the upcoming Men in Black spinoff, a.k.a. MIB, has been said to have more of a global feel, and this latest pictures from one of its stars, Tessa Thompson, hammers that home.

Tessa Thompson didn't provide any context for this behind-the-scenes photo she shared on Instagram, only writing the simple caption "Buds in Black" and tagging Chris Hemsworth. However Thompson's Agent M and Hemsworth's Agent H found themselves in the middle of a sprawling desert, they're lucky to have those umbrellas for sun protection. Unless those are just for the actors in between takes, in which case I feel for their characters as they trudge forward.

Having first worked together on last year's Thor: Ragnarok, MIB marks Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson reuniting for another round of sci-fi shenanigans. Only this time, instead of being all-powerful, Asgardian demigods, they're trained humans keeping the world safe from alien threats. And evidently during this particular mission, they'll have to get venture into a sandy wasteland. Here's hoping their dapper suits don't get too dirty.

This isn't the first time that Tessa Thompson or Chris Hemsworth have shared looks at the making of MIB, but with eight months to go until the spinoff's release, fingers crossed that we start getting some official looks at the movie. It's probably too much to hope for a trailer before the year is over, but some stills would be nice.

So far, all we know about MIB's plot is that involves a team of London-based Men in Black having to solve a murder mystery, which will take them around the globe. So this desert is likely just one of many locales that our main protagonists will visit. Where those other places are, that remains to be seen, but you can bet that a lot of people will be neutralized and a lot of energy blasters will be shot along the way.

Along with Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson, MIB's cast includes Liam Neeson, Kumail Nanjiani, Rafe Spall, Rebecca Ferguson and Les Twins, as well as Emma Thompson reprising Agent O, who was introduced in Men in Black 3. The Fate of the Furious' F. Gary Gray is directing, and Iron Man duo Art Marcum and Matt Holloway wrote the script.

Sonic the Hedgehog was unquestionably one of the most popular video game characters of the 1990s, and while those glory days have long since passed, the super speedy rodent protagonist from Sega has been keeping the race going both in video games, cartoons and comics. His profile, however, is going to get a major boost soon, as it was announced in 2014 that a live action/CGI Sonic the Hedgehog movie is heading to theaters, and today brings word that it looks like Jim Carrey will soon be added to the cast as Sonic's arch-nemesis, Robotnik, a.k.a. Doctor Eggman.

According to THR, Jim Carrey is in final negotiations to play Robotnik in the Sonic the Hedgehog movie, and unlike the eponymous protagonist, Carrey's Robotnik will be a live action character as opposed to being a CGI creation. Once his deal has been finalized, Carrey will join a cast that so far consists of James Marsden and Tika Sumpter. In recent years, Carrey's roles have included Kick-Ass 2, The Incredible Burt Wonderstone, Dumb and Dumber To and Dark Crimes, and he'll be seen later this year in the Showtime series Kidding. That said, Sonic the Hedgehog could end up being an opportunity for Carrey to re-channel that manic energy that he displayed early in his film career in movies like Ace Ventura and The Mask.

Robotnik has been part of the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise since the very beginning, debuting alongside the eponymous protagonist in the 1991, simply-titled video game Sonic the Hedgehog. A mad scientist who's notorious for his robotic creations, Robotnik seeks to conquer the world so that he can rule over his Eggman Empire. He frequently tries to accomplish this goal by harnessing the power of the Chaos Emeralds, and while he normally must contend with Sonic and his allies interfering with his plans, there have been times where Robotnik and Sonic have had to join forces to combat a greater threat.

No plot details for the Sonic the Hedgehog movie have been officially revealed yet, including whether the main story is set within Sonic's world or if we have a Smurfs-like scenario where the Sonic characters are tossed into our reality, i.e. the "real world." The movie will be directed by first-time feature helmer Jeff Fowler, who directed the 2005 Oscar-nominated short Gopher Broke. Deadpool's Tim Miller and Neal H. Moritz from the Fast and the Furious franchise are attached as producers.

There is an awareness that I really struggled with, particularly in my late teens when I was going out to places for the first time where you would feel again, it could have largely been in my head where you would feel watched when you went into a bar, when you went into a pub. In my case, the quickest way to forget you were being watched was to get very drunk. Then as you get very drunk, you become aware, Oh, people are watching more now because now Im getting very drunk, so I should probably drink more to ignore that more. It can affect your psyche.

While lots of people are famous, and many of them became famous while very young, there's probably nobody in the world who has had a life experience comparable to Daniel Radcliffe. He took on a major film role as a kid and then spent the next decade doing essentially nothing else. The movies were all massive hits, which made Radcliffe a star.

This led to him having difficulty doing simple things, like going out for a drink. He admits that he doesn't even know if he was being watched by everybody else to quite the degree that he felt that he was, but either way, that pressure would get to him, and he relieved the pressure the same way a lot of us do, with drinks.

It doesn't sound like things ever got too out of hand, beyond occasionally getting seriously drunk, but as Radcliffe tells The Off Camera Show, it did effect him mentally. Eventually, he did realize that things needed to change, and with the support of the people around him, he was able to keep things from reaching the point where they truly spiraled out of control. He says the drinking never impacted the work, mostly because he still loved the work and never wanted to quit. He still loves the work and is glad that he played Harry Potter.

Today, things seems to be a lot better for the still very young actor. Radcliffe has gone on to a career making movies in much more varied roles and he says he doesn't even get recognized as Harry Potter very much anymore, which likely makes going out in public much easier than it once was.

Radcliffe himself says that he expects a reboot of Harry Potter will happen someday. Hopefully whoever gets cast in that role doesn't go through quite the overwhelming experience that Daniel Radcliffe did.
