The Fate Of Another Rogue One Character Has Been Revealed

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story was not a movie that ended well for most of its characters, but now the fate of another, who was never on the planet's surface, has been revealed. Everybody who goes on the mission to obtain the Death Star plans dies, though they are successful in transmitting the plans off the planet. The mission itself only came about because Jyn Erso and company went against orders, because men like General Draven didn't think it was a good idea. Now, we know what happened to Draven after the movie ended.

The current Star Wars comic book run takes place in between the first two episodes of the original trilogy and is currently focused on an infiltration of an Imperial ship by Princess Leia and General Draven, among others, in order to obtain yet another collection of Imperial data. Draven has changed following the events of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and is now more willing to not only allow risk in service of the Rebellion but as the new comic, #54 shows (h/t to ComicBook.com), he's also willing to risk his own life. The Rebel force attempts to escape the Imperial ship by stealing a TIE fighter, and Draven makes the decision to stay behind in order to help everybody else escape.

Staying behind puts Draven up against Darth Vader, which goes about how you think, making him the latest casualty among the characters that were introduced in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. While General Draven, played by Alistair Petrie in the film, wasn't exactly a fan favorite in the movie, his continued presence has helped to connect the comics to the films and continued to show how Rogue One is having a significant implication on the larger Star Wars universe.

In the comic itself, Draven even makes reference to Jyn Erso and the fact that he has apparently been jealous ever since she became the martyred hero and he was just the guy who was wrong. Now, he gets to be that hero.

In the end, one way or another, pretty much everybody who was in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story that doesn't appear later in the original trilogy needs to find their way off screen one way or another and considering they're in the middle of a war, death is going to be the most likely option for everybody.

What The G.I. Joe Spinoff Movie Might Be About

For the longest time, the G.I. Joe franchise has been stuck in a holding pattern. While 2013's G.I. Joe: Retaliation was a box office success, the years since have not seen another project come together. That may soon change, however, courtesy of the Hasbro writers room that Paramount Pictures first put together back in 2015. Not only is the franchise's next project starting to materialize, but it looks like it will be a solo movie for fan-favorite character Snake Eyes.

The Hollywood Reporter has the scoop on this development, noting that Evan Spiliotopoulos is now in talks to take care of the screenplay - his previous credits including the recent live-action Beauty and the Beast and The Huntsman: Winter's War. Beyond that, however, there aren't many firm details available just because the project seems to be in the very earliest of stages.

For those unfamiliar with Snake Eyes, he was first introduced as part of the Hasbro G.I. Joe relaunch in the 1980s, and has been immensely popular ever since. Very different than every other hero in the franchise, he not only never shows his face, but he also never speaks. He wears an all black costume, and is a trained ninja, frequently squaring off against his similarly-skilled, white costume-wearing Cobra Commander counterpart, Storm Shadow.

In both 2009's G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra and G.I. Joe: Retaliation, Snake Eyes was brought to life by Ray Park - who is the martial arts-trained actor best known for playing Darth Maul in Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace and Toad in 2000's X-Men. The trade report does not mention if he will be returning for the Snake Eyes movie, or even if there are plans to have the movie be set within the established continuity. Presumably those kinds of decisions will be made once Evan Spiliotopoulos starts getting a few drafts written and they use the work to help develop the future of the franchise, which is being planned as a full-blown cinematic universe featuring other Hasbro toy brands including Micronauts, Visionairies: Knights of the Magical Light, M.A.S.K. and Rom: SpaceKnight.

Sadly, it's still very unclear when exactly this whole thing might come together, as the new report is missing those two key words: fast-tracked. Of course, our fingers are definitely tightly crossed that the studio takes its time with the Snake Eyes movie and ensures that it is as good as it can possibly be before moving forward. There's a good amount of potential present in a film about a ninja operating in a G.I. Joe world, and it would be nice to see the movie get made properly. There have been some fantastic movies in 2018, with two of the best (and two of the most unique) coming in the form of Paddington 2 and Hereditary. Both films found audiences and have been hailed as triumphs in their own respective ways, but what would happen if they crossed over with one another? Well, someone apparently posed that question by editing Paddington footage into the Hereditary trailer, and it's delightfully weird. Check it out, below!

It's almost eerie to see how well Hereditary and Paddington line up. Isn't it? Some great editing is on display here, as the children's movie is played over the trailer for the 2018 horror fest in spectacular fashion. Though some of the moments don't totally line up, others (such as the pairing of Toni Collette and Sally Hawkins' characters) works almost too well.

It just goes to show how much music can affect the tone and style of a given movie. None of the original Paddington audio plays in this trailer, so the effective score of Hereditary (coupled with some of the dialogue) helps to hammer home the fear and dread of Ari Aster's movie.

Beyond that, both Paddington and Hereditary use similar visual motifs of dollhouses to frame their stories. You can check out the Hereditary version of the scene, below!

Now, for the sake of comparison, you can check out the Paddington version of the dollhouse motif (the one that is also used in the fan edit trailer) to see how it stacks up!

This is not the first time that the trailer for Hereditary has been looped in with a children's property. In fact, earlier this year it was reported that an Australian cinema accidentally played the preview for Hereditary ahead of a screening of Peter Rabbit -- which, as you can probably imagine, was full of children and families. The result? A theater full of crying children and angry parents. Luckily, this video is designed from the ground up to be funny, so we're keeping our fingers crossed that it won't terrify too many children.
